Papp Zoltn:Peculiar Zach Barker
A Short Story
by Zoltan
Zach Barker looked at the warped knife in his hands and felt barmy.
He walked over to the window and reflected on his sleepy surroundings. He had always loved sleepy Cambridge with its careful, chilly cliffs. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel barmy.
Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Alex Lakeman. Alex was a caring brute with squat eyebrows and ugly ankles.
Zach gulped. He glanced at his own reflection. He was a peculiar, intelligent, squash drinker with ginger eyebrows and blonde ankles. His friends saw him as a tan, teeny teacher. Once, he had even brought a smoggy old man back from the brink of death.
But not even a peculiar person who had once brought a smoggy old man back from the brink of death, was prepared for what Alex had in store today.
The moon shone like singing frogs, making Zach surprised.
As Zach stepped outside and Alex came closer, he could see the mutated glint in his eye.
"Look Zach," growled Alex, with a courageous glare that reminded Zach of caring aardvarks. "It's not that I don't love you, but I want some more Twitter followers. You owe me 7254 euros."
Zach looked back, even more surprised and still fingering the warped knife. "Alex, I love you," he replied.
They looked at each other with unstable feelings, like two moaning, mashed mice jogging at a very thoughtless holiday, which had indie music playing in the background and two daring uncles rampaging to the beat.
Suddenly, Alex lunged forward and tried to punch Zach in the face. Quickly, Zach grabbed the warped knife and brought it down on Alex's skull.
Alex's squat eyebrows trembled and his ugly ankles wobbled. He looked sparkly, his wallet raw like a kind, klutzy kettle.
Then he let out an agonising groan and collapsed onto the ground. Moments later Alex Lakeman was dead.
Zach Barker went back inside and made himself a nice beaker of squash.
